1. This paper consists of sections A, B and C with a total of eleven (11) questions.

3. Describe the following concepts as they are used in interpreting poems:
I. Poet
A poet is someone who writes poems. For example, Okot Bitek is a poet because he wrote the poems Song of Lawino and Song of Ocol.
II. Persona
Persona is the one who is speaking in the poem.
III. Verse
Verse refer to lines in a poem.
IV. Stanza
A stanza is a collection of verses in a poem.
V. Tone
Tone is a literary device that conveys the author's attitude toward the subject, speaker, or audience of a poem. Tone is sometimes referred to as the ‘mood’.
VI. Rhyme
Rhymes are similar sounds that appear mostly at the end of verses.
