Maelekezo ya Kufanya Mtihani Ili Usahihishwe na Mwalimu:

1. Mtu yeyote na popote alipo anaruhusiwa kufanya mtihani huu.
2. Fanya mtihani huu kwa kutumia aina yoyote ya karatasi.
3. Ukimaliza, piga picha karatasi hizo kisha zitume WhatsApp kwenye namba ya Mwalimu Makoba, 0754 89 53 21.
4. Subiri mtihani wako usahihishwe, Urudishiwe na ufanyiwe masahihisho.
5. Gharama ya mtihani huu ni shilingi 2,000/= (elfu mbili).
Namba za malipo ni: M – Pesa 0754 89 53 21 (Daud Mhuli) na Tigo pesa 0653 25 05 66 (Daud Mhuli).

Section A (40 Marks)

Answer all questions.
1. Briefly explain five factors that account for variation in language use.
2. Distinguish the following linguistic concepts:

V. Common core English and colloquial English
3. Define each of the following terms as used in literature:
I. Genre
II. Dirge
III. Characters
IV. Motif

4. Differentiate the following literary terms:
I. Rhyme and rhythm
II. Imagery and symbolism
III. Plot and setting
IV. Assonance and alliteration
V. Poem and poetry

Section B (60 Marks)

Answer three questions, question number 7 and 8 are compulsory.
5. Plays reflect what is happening in the society, Using any two plays you have read under this program, show how the playwrights have been able to do that. (Use four points from each play).
6. Take any four characters, two from each of the two readings you have read under this section and show how they solve their problems. (Use four points from each reading).
7. Poems educate our society. Support this statement using four poems you have studied under this section. (Use four points for each poem).
8. Explain six roles which literature play in the society.
