METHODS USED IN THE ESTABLISHMENT OF COLONIAL RULE

“Examine the methods used in during the establishment of colonial rule in Tanganyika.”
Europeans used multiple methods to establish colonial rule in Tanganyika as outlined below:
-   Signing of bogus treaties. The treaties lied to the local chiefs that after signing they could be given gifts and security, but in reality those treaties approved that Africans surrendered their power and independence. Carl Peters signed a bogus treat with sultan Mangung’o of Msovero Usagara.
-      Alliance. In Tanganyika, German befriended with chief Marealle of Marangu against people of Kibosho. Also, Sangu and Bena Allied with the Germans against the Hehe.

-      Military method. It was used only to the stubborn society which rejected to sign the treaty or collaborate with the Europens. In Tanganyika, German waged war against Hehe, Yao and many other societies.
